County appoints Sherri Sager to Family Health Plan Board

SAN JOSE – Santa Clara County Supervisor Joe Simitian announced today the appointment of Sherri Sager to the Santa Clara County Health Authority Governing Board of Directors which governs the Santa Clara Family Health Plan. Sager was appointed by the Board upon Simitian’s nomination and recommendation. Sager is the Chief Government and Community Relations Officer for Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford.

“Sherri is a great choice for this position. She has an extensive background in health care, as well as relevant experience working in government,” said Simitian.

Sager is particularly knowledgeable about health care issues affecting low-income women and children. Prior to working at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital, Sager spent three years at the Valley Medical Center Foundation.

"With more than 14 years of experience working in government at all levels, along with 25 years of working in the healthcare industry, I believe that I bring a unique perspective to the Governing Board,” said Sager when asked about why she believes she will be a good fit for the board.

The Santa Clara County Health Authority is an independent public agency that governs the Santa Clara Family Health Plan (SCFHP). Appointed by the County Board of Supervisors, the 13-member Governing Board seeks to improve access to quality health care, maintain and preserve a health care safety net for Santa Clara County, and ensure the fiscal integrity of SCFHP.

As the Health Plan’s website notes, “With the health care industry rapidly evolving, SCFHP benefits greatly from the innovative ideas and perspectives of this diverse group of people with backgrounds in business, finance, managed care, hospital administration, information technology, medicine, health care policy, and law.
