County, school district, and InPlay help parents find summer and after school activities in Mountain View

SAN JOSE – Parents can now use a new service to find local and affordable after-school and summer camp programs in Mountain View. InPlay, in partnership with Santa Clara County and the Mountain View Whisman School District (MVWSD), has created a new Mountain View webpage (mv.inplay.org) to give parents a convenient database of summer and after-school activities in and around Mountain View.

“We’re fortunate to live in an area with fantastic summer and after-school programs,” said Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors President Joe Simitian, who pushed for the new service. “My hope is that this new site, InPlay, will help parents find programs for their kids that keep them engaged, excited, and educated through the summer.”

InPlay is a nonprofit that connects families with after-school and summer programs. The new Mountain View database includes more than 100 programs in the Mountain View area, such as:

  • Sports, including basketball, volleyball, and soccer
  • Science, including robotics, math, and coding
  • Art and Dance, including ballet, tap, and hip-hop

Simitian said he was, “particularly pleased that the service is available in English, Spanish, and Mandarin; and that programs that are affordable and/or offer scholarships are accessible on the site.”

Parents can search for camps and activities by location, price, and topic. With funding shared by the County and the School District, the Mountain View Whisman School District is the first district in the County to offer the InPlay service to local families.

"Closing the opportunity gap for summer learning truly takes an entire community,” said Rod Hsiao, CEO and Founder of InPlay. “InPlay is happy to provide a solution to bring all the after-school and summer programs together in one searchable activity directory so that parents can find local and affordable programs."
