Rancho Rinconada Recreation and Park District seeks candidates for Board of Directors

The Rancho Rinconada Recreation and Park District will have multiple Board seats on the ballot on November 3. Potential candidates will need to step up sometime in the next few weeks.

Rancho Rinconada is a California special district located in the City of Cupertino, receives a small percentage of property tax from residents, and is governed by an elected Board of Directors. The initial filing deadline for candidates interested in running for the Board is August 7, 2020.

The Rancho Rinconada Board provides oversight of District operations and establishes District policy. The District owns, maintains and operates a recreation facility and offers recreation programs at the facility including swimming pool activities, Kids Night Out, after-school programs, facility and barbeque rentals, a snack bar, and a location for community-related events.

“The District has struggled to attract Governing Board members in recent years, but in order for the District to thrive, it’s vital that good people step up to serve so the District can continue providing the services that we all enjoy,” said County Supervisor Joe Simitian, whose District includes the Rancho Rinconada District.

The District was established in 1956 to provide pool and recreational amenities for the Rancho Rinconada neighborhood. Service on the Board typically involves participation in just one meeting a month.
