Recurring COVID-19 testing to continue in October

SAN JOSE – Santa Clara County Supervisor Joe Simitian today announced that the County will continue providing appointment-based COVID-19 testing on a consistently scheduled, rotating basis into October as well as expanded pop-up testing capacity available through El Camino Health.

Test sites in District Five cities include locations in Cupertino, Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, Mountain View, Palo Alto, Saratoga, and Sunnyvale.

“Convenience is key,” said Simitian, who represents District Five and serves as Chair of the County’s Health and Hospital Committee. “If we want more people to be tested, providing locally available and convenient sites is essential,” he said.

“As a community hospital, we’re making every effort to eliminate any barriers for our neighbors in getting a COVID-19 test,” said Dan Woods, chief executive officer of El Camino Health. “Funding from the El Camino Healthcare District has enabled us provide community-wide testing at our Mountain View hospital and partner with local organizations to bring testing sites closer to where people live and work. We continue to look for new opportunities to support the health of our community and the County’s efforts.”

“El Camino Health has certainly stepped up during this time and deserves kudos,” said Simitian. “Not only have they expanded their testing hours at El Camino Hospital, they’re now providing pop-up testing to members of the broader community, which benefits us all.”
