One step closer to revitalizing Flood Park

December 5, 2023

The Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors approved an agreement with the County of San Mateo to move forward with the Realize Flood Park project as part of the Stanford recreational grant program. Flood Park is an 86-year-old park in Menlo Park and one of seven projects that was designated for funding by Santa Clara County’s Stanford Mitigation Fund (SMF) in 2020. The SMF is restricted to projects that aim to mitigate the loss of recreational facilities for campus residents and facility users due to development on the Stanford University campus resulting from approval of the 2000 Stanford General Use Permit.

All-inclusive playground at Rengstorff Park breaks ground

Santa Clara County Supervisor Joe Simitian joined the City of Mountain View and the Magical Bridge Foundation at a groundbreaking celebration for an all-inclusive playground at Rengstorff Park, 201 S. Rengstorff Avenue. The Magical Bridge Playground at Rengstorff Park is anticipated to open in fall 2024.

County Supervisors seek mental health access for older adults

The Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors approved a proposal aiming to assess and respond to older adult mental health needs in the County. County staff will analyze programs currently available for older adults to access mental health care, and provide recommendations on how those programs can better address the unique challenges older adults are facing.

Supervisors push to bridge the gap with mobile dental services for veterans

November 8, 2023

The Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors voted to augment funding for mobile dental services for the County’s resident veterans as part of the upcoming Fiscal Year 2024-25 Budget. This action was brought forward by County Supervisor Joe Simitian and co-authored by County Supervisor Otto Lee, and looks to provide relief to over 64,000 veterans living in Santa Clara County.

County Supervisors recognize Luisa Buada for her impact on the community

The Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors honored longtime community health leader Luisa Buada as she retires as Chief of Executive Officer of Ravenswood Family Health Network, which provides primary and preventative care services designed to reach underserved, uninsured and low-income families in northern Santa Clara County and southern San Mateo County.

Progress on West Valley Health Clinic!

November 1, 2023

Santa Clara County and the Foothill-De Anza Community College District complete feasibility study to bring a Valley Health Center clinic to the the De Anza Community College campus in Cupertino. A community engagement process is scheduled for late 2023 and early 2024.

Palo Alto interim housing site breaks ground

October 31, 2023

Homekey Palo Alto, an emergency interim shelter, broke ground and when open will serve more than 200 people each year and provide supportive services, including counseling and vocational training. Homekey Palo Alto is partially funded by the County’s “Challenge Grant” program to combat homelessness, a program initiated by County Supervisors Joe Simitian and Otto Lee.
